Foods are best when they have been defrosted just to the point where a fork can be inserted, but still have some ice crystals remaining. Additional standing time before cooking is needed to complete the defrosting and to allow the food to equalize or even the temperature distribution throughout the food. There are different ways you can defrost using your microwave oven.
